Who I am

Updated: Apr 8, 2018

Firstly, welcome to my blog, I plan to post my most recent work and also interesting news that I stumble across but I thought I'd start by introducing myself and share a little of my background.

Where It Began

For as long as I can remember, I have always had an interest in art, whether it be drawing, painting or even clay. I have to give credit to my Mum for this as she is arty and encouraged my early colouring efforts which resulted in art being my main focus throughout my school years and even on into college. Although I knew I loved art, I was unsure about what I wanted to do with my life when I finished sixth form. This uncertainty lead me to taking a gap year (which I would definitely recommend to anyone who isn't totally sure what they want to do) and, long story short, I eventually settled on a degree course for Computer Animation and Visual Effects. I went on to achieve a first class honours degree with a particular interest for architectural visualisation.

Gaining Experience

During my time at university I participated in the Camp America programme, where I taught children how to care for and ride horses, resulting in three, fun-filled, sunny summers throughout my degree. After I graduated and even during my time at camp I did some freelance work for Skipton Council where I created 3D models of a WW1 Prisoner of War camp. This job gave me experience of creating lower poly models as the end product was being shown in Unity.

Towards the end of my final summer in America I wanted to gain industry experience, so I 'cold called' companies that I wanted to work for and gained a month long internship in New York with a business called Microscape/AJSNY. Whilst I was there I gained experience in creating visuals for clients and also some insight into modelling for 3D printing.

Where I am Today

Shortly after returning from America I secured my current job in the architectural visualisation industry, working for a leading design and build company in Warrington. During my time with them I have learnt new techniques and software to enhance my visualisation skills, for example I now have considerable knowledge of V-Ray and ArchiCAD and I am constantly improving my modelling skills. Currently, I am mostly visualising office spaces, however I would really love the opportunity to create more variety of interior and exteriors.

So that about sums up my life and hopefully you found it of some interest. Keep checking back for more updates, or follow me on social media, which I try to keep as current as possible.
